In Memoriam

Sultan Ali – ‘Ali Senior’, who has died aged 81, was the postman for the southern part of Jericho in the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Pakistan, he served in the British Army in the Second World war and came to the UK in 1967. When he retired, His son Mohammad (‘Ali Junior’) took over the round and still delivers the post in Walton Street, Richmond Road, Walton Crescent, Great Clarendon Street and Worcester Place.

Walter Andrews – Walter was a long-time Jericho inhabitant and one of his grandsons now lives here. He sang in the Church choir and served as an altar boy. There is a memorial in the Church to his brother who was tragically killed as a young man.

Douglas Morgan – Doug, who died in June, was born in Cutteslow. He met Doreen at a dance at the OUP Institute in Walton Street. They later married and settled in Cardigan Street. He was ill for much of his life but was always positive, cheerful and forthright and had the loving support of Doreen. Our sympathies to her and their children.
