Jericho Community Centre

This building on the corner of Canal Street and Cardigan Street is the centre of most community activities—from children's playgroups, to youth groups, to Egyptian belly dancing classes.
It was built at the end of the last century as the St. Barnabas Church Institute, and the Church still owns it. Since the early 1980s, however, the Church has leased the building to the City Council, which in turn leases it to the Jericho Community Association.
The Centre's running costs are largely financed by letting upstairs office space. Anyone interested in using the building should consult the Centre's website at www.jerichocentre.org.uk.
While it has done sterling service, the building is now showing its age. However, the redevelopment of the canal site has offered the opportunity of a brand new centre.
