EDITING & DESKTOP PUBLISHING
In addition to writing UN reports, I have also edited many others. Typically, this involves combining inputs from from a large team of people into a coherent, readable text.
In the past I have edited the global Human Development Report for the United Nations Development Programme, and numerous publications for UNICEF and the International Labour Organization. Recent publications include:
Trade on Human Terms: Transforming Trade for Human Development in Asia and the Pacific – The Asia-Pacific region is at the forefront of globalization. But what impact is this having on people's lives – on their employment opportunities, their incomes, their quality of life, on who they are and what they can become? The Asia-Pacific Human Development Report for 2006 points out that while trade can enhance human development it can also hinder it. How should national governments respond? The report offers a bold eight-point agenda.
A Future within Reach: The Millennium Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific – This provide government policy makers and other development stakeholders with the most comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the region's progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. It was commissioned through a tripartite initiative of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The UN Convention on Climate Change: the First Ten Years – This was the official report for the 2004 World Conference on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It looks at recent emission trends and prospects, then sets the stage for future policies by considering how concernds for climate change fit in with strategies for sustainable development.
